Dual WhatsApp on iPhone
How to Use Multiple WhatsApp Accounts on One iPhone (2, 3 or More)
Since June 2026, the WhatsApp iPhone app has supported two accounts, which you switch between inside the app; a third account is only in beta. WhatsApp Business, a separate app, can take another number. That's plenty for a personal number and a spare. Sellers, support teams and agencies often need more: three, five or twenty numbers, each in its own app and all signed in on the same iPhone at once. For that, you need separately installed copies of WhatsApp. Here's how the options compare and how to set the copies up.
A second WhatsApp account: what the official app allows
Every WhatsApp account is tied to a phone number. Since June 2026, the iPhone app has let you add a second account from WhatsApp's settings and switch between the two without signing out of either. Two is the limit in the regular app; a third account has only appeared in the beta.
WhatsApp Business is a separate app with its own registration, so you can verify a different number in it. It's designed for businesses, with a business profile, a catalog and quick replies, and many people keep a work number there next to their personal WhatsApp.
Linked devices are a different thing. WhatsApp on an iPad or a computer shows the same account you already have on your phone, just on a bigger screen. It's handy for typing replies on a keyboard, but it doesn't add a number.
In short, the official route is fine when you need one spare. If you need three or more numbers, each in its own app and all signed in at the same time, the way to do it on one iPhone is to install separate copies of WhatsApp.
Two, three or twenty numbers: the options compared
Which option fits depends on how many numbers you need open and who answers them. A freelancer with a separate work line is well served by the official app. An agency handling numbers for several clients, or a support team with a line per market, needs more than the official apps hold.
Web-based dual apps and separately signed copies are easy to confuse; our guide to clone apps on iPhone explains how they differ.
| Option | What you get | Limits |
|---|---|---|
| Second account in WhatsApp | Two numbers in one app; you switch between them | Two at most; a third is only in beta |
| WhatsApp Business | Another number in a separate app, with business tools | Installs only once from the App Store |
| WhatsApp on an iPad or a computer | The same account on a bigger screen | Doesn't add a number |
| Web-based dual apps | An account from another phone, shown in a browser view | Still a linked device of that other phone |
| A second phone | Complete separation | Another device and line to pay for and carry |
| Separate WhatsApp copies | Up to 50 on one iPhone, each signed in to its own number | Each needs its own number; paid, fixed term |
How to set up 3 or more WhatsApp accounts on one iPhone
iClone signs separate copies of WhatsApp for your iPhone. Each copy has its own app ID and keeps its own data on the phone, so each one can stay signed in to a different number while the WhatsApp you got from the App Store keeps working as before. The Multi-clone plan allows up to 50 copies on one iPhone, includes WhatsApp Business at no extra cost, and covers compatible updates, reinstalls and support for the length of your term.
iClone doesn't ask for your Apple ID or any account login. You verify each number inside its copy yourself.
On the iPhone that will run the copies, open iClone's WhatsApp page in Safari and choose the Multi-clone plan with a 3-month or 12-month term.
Confirm the device when prompted. Safari installs a profile so the iPhone can be identified for signing. Then pay; no Mac, PC or jailbreak is involved.
Watch the signing progress on your order page and, when it's done, install by following the instructions shown there.
Open each copy and verify a different number, the same way you set up WhatsApp the first time.
Tips for running many WhatsApp numbers on one phone
- Decide which number goes in which copy, write it down, and keep the copies together in a folder on the Home Screen.
- Give each account its own profile name and photo. Customers can see who they're talking to, and you're less likely to reply from the wrong number.
- Turn on two-step verification for every number from WhatsApp's settings, and keep the PINs where you can find them.
- Keep every SIM or number active. WhatsApp sends a verification code each time a number is registered again, for example after a reinstall.
- Don't verify a number in a copy while it's active in another app on the phone. A number is active in one place at a time, so the other app gets signed out.
- Put the numbers that need a catalog or quick replies in WhatsApp Business. It comes with the plan and can be cloned too, one copy per business number.
Before you start
- Every account is subject to WhatsApp's terms, and whether an account is restricted is WhatsApp's decision. iClone doesn't create accounts and can't guarantee that any account won't be restricted.
- Each copy keeps its own login and data on the iPhone, but WhatsApp can still link accounts on its own servers under its own policies.
- Each account needs its own phone number that can receive WhatsApp's verification code.
- Changes to iOS, to certificates or to WhatsApp itself can stop a copy from working for a while. During your term you can reinstall the current compatible version from your order page, and iClone support can help.
- A factory reset deletes the apps and their data on the phone. Whether you get your chats back depends on WhatsApp's own backup features.
Frequently asked questions
Can I have two WhatsApp accounts on one iPhone?
Yes. Since June 2026, the WhatsApp app on iPhone has supported two accounts: you add the second one from WhatsApp's settings and switch between them inside the app. You can also verify a second number in WhatsApp Business, which is a separate app.
How do I use 3 WhatsApp accounts on one iPhone?
The regular app stops at two, and a third account is only in beta. You can put a third number in WhatsApp Business. If you want three or more numbers in WhatsApp itself, all signed in at once, you need separately installed copies; the Multi-clone plan allows up to 50 on one iPhone.
Is there a dual WhatsApp app for iPhone?
Not a built-in one. Many Android phones have a dual-app setting that duplicates WhatsApp, but iOS doesn't let you install the same App Store app twice. Apps that advertise dual WhatsApp usually open WhatsApp Web in a browser view, which makes them a linked device of an account on another phone. A separately signed copy is a second installation of WhatsApp, verified with its own number.
Does WhatsApp on an iPad or a computer count as a second account?
No. Linked devices show the account you already have, on another screen. They don't add a number.
How many WhatsApp accounts can I run on one iPhone with iClone?
With the Multi-clone plan, up to 50 copies of WhatsApp, each verified with its own number. WhatsApp Business is included at no extra cost and can be cloned the same way. Current plans are listed on iClone's WhatsApp page.
Do I need to delete the WhatsApp I already have?
No. The copies install as separate apps, so the App Store version stays on your iPhone and keeps working.
Do I need a computer or a jailbreak, and do the copies expire after 7 days?
No. Everything happens in Safari on the iPhone. The copies are signed for your device rather than with a free Apple ID, so there's no 7-day expiry and no weekly re-signing. Plans run for 3 or 12 months and don't renew automatically.
Can I use the same number in two copies?
No. Apart from linked devices, a number can be active in only one app at a time, so verifying it in a second copy signs it out of the first. Give every copy its own number.
