iPhone app cloning guide
How to Clone Apps on iPhone: Run Two or More Copies of the Same App
iPhone has no dual apps setting like some Android phones, and the App Store installs only one copy of each app. To keep several accounts of the same app signed in at once on one iPhone, you need separately signed copies of the app, each installed as its own app with its own data. This guide compares five ways to run the same app more than once, free ones included, and walks through cloning an app from Safari with no computer or jailbreak.
Does iPhone have dual apps? What the official apps allow
Some Android phones, such as Samsung and Xiaomi models, have a built-in dual apps feature that runs a second copy of an app. iPhone doesn't. The App Store installs each app only once, and iOS doesn't let one app run another iPhone app inside it, so Android-style dual-app tools don't exist on iPhone in the same form.
Before you look for a multi-account app, check what the official apps already allow. Several let you add accounts and switch between them for free, but only one account is open at a time:
- Instagram: add up to 5 accounts and switch between them.
- Telegram: up to 3 accounts in one app, or 4 with Telegram Premium.
- WhatsApp: since June 2026 the iPhone app holds 2 accounts, and WhatsApp Business is a separate app. More in our guide to multiple WhatsApp accounts on iPhone.
- TikTok: switch between accounts inside the app.
- LINE: basically one account per phone and per phone number, with no account switching in the app.
Five ways to duplicate apps on iPhone, compared
Switching is fine for checking a second account now and then. Sellers, support teams and others running many accounts usually want them all signed in all day, ideally on one phone. Here's how the options compare:
| Option | What you get | Limits |
|---|---|---|
| Switching inside the app | Free and official | One account open at a time; not every app offers it |
| App Store “clone” or “dual” apps | A messenger's web version in a browser view | The account must live on another phone or app; fewer features |
| Free Apple ID sideloading | Apps you sign yourself on a computer, for free | Apps expire after 7 days and must be re-signed from the computer; only a few at a time |
| A second phone | Accounts kept fully apart by device | A second device and phone plan to pay for and carry |
| Separately signed copies (iClone) | The full app, up to 50 copies on one iPhone, all signed in at once | Paid, fixed term; every account needs its own phone number or other sign-up details |
- For a few accounts you don't mind switching between, the app's own switcher is enough. To glance at an account that already lives on another phone, a web version will do.
- For many accounts of one app open all day on a single iPhone, separately signed copies fit best. A second phone suits you if you'd rather keep devices apart.
Free ways to clone apps on iPhone, and their limits
Besides switching inside the app, there are two free routes. Each has a catch, and neither suits running many accounts at once every day:
- Web versions: many App Store “clone” and “dual” apps just show a messenger's web version. The account still has to live on another phone or app, and you get fewer features than in the real app.
- Free Apple ID sideloading: you use a computer to sign and install an app yourself. Apps installed this way expire after 7 days and must be re-signed from the computer, and only a few can be installed at a time.
How to clone an app on iPhone with iClone
iClone isn't an App Store app. It's a service that signs a copy of the app you pick with its own app ID and installs it on your iPhone as a separate app. Each app clone is the full app, not a web view, and keeps its own data, so every copy can stay signed in to a different account at the same time.
Because this isn't the free Apple ID method, there's no 7-day expiry and no weekly re-signing. You choose a fixed 3-month or 12-month term (some apps, such as TikTok, are 12 months only), and it doesn't renew automatically.
On the iPhone that will run the copies, open the app's page in Safari, for example WhatsApp, LINE, Telegram, Instagram or TikTok.
Choose a plan. For many accounts at once, pick Multi-clone, which puts up to 50 copies of the app on one iPhone.
Follow the prompts to confirm your device. Safari installs a profile so the iPhone can be identified for signing. Then pay.
Watch the signing progress on your order page, then install by following the instructions shown there.
Open each copy and sign in to a different account. To create a new account, register it inside that copy.
Tips for running many accounts on one iPhone
- Have what each app needs to register, usually a phone number per account. A dual-SIM iPhone can hold a second number, but that doesn't give you a second copy of the app.
- Decide which copy holds which account, and give each account its own profile name and photo so you don't reply from the wrong one.
- Group the copies into Home Screen folders or pages by job, store or client.
- Set up each account's backup or transfer options. Resetting the iPhone deletes apps and local data, and getting chats back depends on each app's own backups.
- If you clone WhatsApp, the Multi-clone plan also includes WhatsApp Business, which can be cloned too.
Before you start
- Every account still follows that app's own rules. Restrictions are decided by the app provider, and iClone does not guarantee that accounts won't be restricted.
- Each copy keeps its own data on the phone, but the app provider may still link accounts on its own servers under its own policies.
- iClone doesn't create accounts and never asks for your app passwords or Apple ID. You sign in inside each copy yourself.
- Availability can change when iOS, certificates or the original app change. During your term, you can reinstall the current compatible version from your order page.
Frequently asked questions
Can you clone apps on iPhone without a jailbreak or a computer?
Yes. Everything from choosing a plan to installing happens in Safari on the iPhone itself, with no Mac, PC or jailbreak.
Is there a free app cloner for iPhone?
There's no free way to keep many full copies of one app installed and signed in. The free routes are switching accounts inside the app, a messenger's web version, and free Apple ID sideloading, which needs a computer and re-signing every 7 days.
Can I duplicate an app on iPhone by adding a second icon?
You can add a second Home Screen icon with the Shortcuts app, but it opens the same app with the same account and data. To use another account at the same time, you need a separately installed copy.
How many copies of one app can I install?
Up to 50 copies of the same app on one iPhone with the Multi-clone plan. Each account still needs whatever the app requires to register, usually its own phone number.
Do I need to delete the App Store version?
No. Each copy installs as a separate app, so the official app can stay installed and keep working.
Do I have to re-sign the apps every 7 days?
No. The 7-day expiry comes with free Apple ID sideloading. iClone copies are signed for your device for the fixed term you choose, with no automatic renewal.
Which apps can I clone?
Messaging and social apps such as WhatsApp, LINE, Telegram, Instagram and TikTok, among others. Each app has its own page showing the plans available for it.
